[Depression ] Acupuncture for Depression

Acupuncture as an alternative to antidepressants or a single treatment can positively impact patients’ depressive symptoms. Compared with antidepressants, acupuncture has the advantages of fast onset and long-term efficacy in treating Depression and can enhance the effectiveness of antidepressants. Moreover, the efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment in Depression may be related to the qualification of the acupuncturist, the selection of acupoints, and intervention measures.

Why acupuncture treatment?

The incidence of Depression has risen in recent years. In treating Depression, Western medicine is mainly oral antidepressants and psychotherapy. Although medication is effective in treating Depression, side effects will occur after long-term use, and it is easy to relapse.

Acupuncture as an adjunct to antidepressants or a single treatment can positively impact patients’ depressive symptoms.

When getting acupuncture treatment?

Due to the slow onset of antidepressants, many patients with Depression have physical discomfort in the early stage of treatment. Currently, acupuncture treatment can be performed simultaneously to relieve physical symptoms.

The slow withdrawal of western medicine, supplemented by acupuncture treatment, can reduce the risk of recurrence and make drug reduction more smooth. On the other hand, most patients with Depression have apparent physical symptoms, such as insomnia, indigestion, physical pain, and discomfort. Also, acupuncture therapy can play a better role in improvement.

How is an acupuncture treatment?

Acupuncture

The disease is located in the brain and involves the liver, heart, spleen, and kidneys. The main pathological change is the imbalance of qi, which leads to qi stagnation, the internal resistance of phlegm and blood stasis, disturbance of the brain, and brain imbalance, resulting in various physical symptoms.

The treatment principle is based on “soothing the liver and regulating qi, regulating the mind and refreshing the brain.”

Ear seeds for depression

When the human body suffers from diseases, the corresponding parts of the auricle often appear tender, sensitive, and specific changes in skin electricity, deformation, discoloration, and other reactions. Therefore, stimulating particular auricular points can harmonize qi and blood, pacify yin and yang, and bring the five internal organs to peace.

The ear seeds pressing method can continuously stimulate the acupoints, and it is safe and painless and has no side effects.

Five ways to prevent Depression

How can people prevent Depression? May wish to start from the following aspects.

One is moderate exercise. Moderate outdoor exercise is a natural medicine to prevent Depression, promote the secretion of some chemical substances that can make people feel uplifted and happy, and improve psychological problems such as panic, psychological trauma, and anxiety.

The second is getting enough sleep. People with long-term insomnia are at high risk of Depression and should try their best to ensure high-quality sleep.

The third is self-relaxation. Live in the present, not as anxious about the future, and take a step ahead. Finally, establish your psychological adjustment methods, such as photography, singing, and partying.

Fourth, learn to let go. Instead of wallowing irreparable damage, learn to let go and set sail again.

The fifth is to find sustenance. Again, faithful people are more resilient in the face of pain.
