WHAT IS PEDIATRIC TUINA?

Pediatric tuina is a discipline formed and developed based on tuina and pediatrics. Guided by the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, it applies specific massage techniques to the body surface of children, adjusts the viscera, dredges the meridians, activates qi, and activates blood to achieve health care—preventive and medical effects.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR PEDIATRIC TUINA THERAPY?

Pediatric tuina is suitable for children under six years old, and the best impact is under three years old. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 can go with adult manipulations.

BENEFITS OF PEDIATRIC TUINA

The indications of pediatric tuina include common respiratory diseases, such as colds, fever, cough, asthma, digestive tract diseases, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, malnutrition. The treatment characteristics of pediatric massage include brisk and gentle manipulation. The treatment time is generally about 10 minutes each time. If the patient is older and has many lesions, it can be appropriately extended. Usually, the treatment is performed once a day or every other day. Some acute diseases, such as high fever, can be massaged twice a day; for acute conditions, 3 to 6 times is a course of treatment; for chronic diseases, 12 times are generally a course of treatment.

FEATURES OF PEDIATRIC TUINA

There are many acupoints for pediatric tuina. In addition to the same traditional acupuncture points as adults (commonly used meridian points and extra-meridian points), many specific points are entirely different from adult acupoints. Line, face, primarily distributed in the head and face and below the elbows, timely treatment, easy to accept for children, to avoid the inconvenience of undressing or cold.
